About me

About Me

Arlene Reyes, MD is a board-certified family medicine physician and assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio and the UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine, followed by medical school at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten. Dr. Reyes completed her residency at the UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine. Dr. Reyes’s passions include evidence-based lifestyle interventions to prevent and treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and obesity. She emphasizes nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep quality, and social connections, empowering patients to make sustainable lifestyle changes through individualized plans.
Dr. Reyes has co-led a quality improvement project with the American Cancer Society to enhance lung cancer screening rates and has presented their efforts at national conferences. She has also participated in public speaking and community outreach to raise awareness for lung cancer screening and prevention. In 2022, Dr. Reyes received the Women Leaders in Medicine Bexar County Medical Society Award. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, and listening to podcasts on nutrition and mindfulness.
