About me

About Me

Dr. Percy “Bud” Luecke loves music. His orthodontic office is decorated with guitars and music posters, mostly of Elvis, and he calls it ”Braceland.”You can catch Dr. Bud playing with his band “Morning,” which he has been making music with since 1977. They still try to get together to play somewhere about once a month, usually for weddings or private parties, where they like to play classic rock and country – “good times music that doesn’t go out of style.”Dr. Bud is a big Elvis fan now, but he was originally inspired by the Beatles and later, Jimi Hendrix. He started playing in bands in middle school and continued through college and dental school, where he worked his way through by playing on weekends. These days, Dr. Bud looks up to the Rolling Stones “because they prove that old guys can still rock.”Music provides Dr. Bud a great opportunity to have fun with friends and meet new people, especially since it was through music that he met his beautiful wife, Sarah, of 21 years. It is also something that he and one of his sons can do together every Sunday at church. The groove is what keeps Dr. Bud coming back to music. “Some athletes call it ‘the zone,’” he explains. “In dentistry, it’s like the feeling that you get when a new crown comes back from the lab, and it clicks into place on the first try with perfect margins. In orthodontics, it’s when you take the braces off and the smile looks fabulous, the occlusion is socked in and the anterior guidance is flawless. With music, it’s when the sounds are on time, in tone and flowing just right. It is a shared experience among the band members and the audience – a sublime communication of joy….see you in the 'groove’”
