About Me
Darlene Metter, M.D., FA.C.R. is a Professor of Radiology and Family and Community Medicine in the Department of Radiology at the School of Medicine in UT Health San Antonio, As a Diagnostic Radiologist, since 1993, Dr. Metters subspecialty expertise is in Nuclear Medicine, where she actively pursues state-ofthe art diagnostic imaging and radionuclide therapy with a special focus on thyroid malignancies.
Dr. Metter is an American Board of Radiology (ABR) examiner, Chair-ABR Certifying and Maintenance of Certification Exam for Nuclear Radiology, and a board member for the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Dr. Metter has served as the Chair or President of several Nuclear Medicine organizations in education (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Nuclear Medicine Program Directors), setting clinical practice guidelines (Co-chair of the American College of Radiology Practice Parameters and Technical Standards for Nuclear Radiology, Chair of the Medical committee for the Texas Radiation Advisory Board to the State of Texas), professional organizations (President of the Southwest Chapter, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) and the Academic Council of the SNMMI), and research (Chair of UT Health Science Center Radioactive Drug and Research Committee).
Dr. Metter is an active leader in organized radiology and has received many honors and teaching awards to include many visiting professorships.
