About Me

Dr. Wright received his dental degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1977. After practicing general dentistry for ten years, he was selected and attended the Air Forces one-year Advanced Clinical Dentistry Program. In 1992, Dr. Wright entered the two-year TMJ and Craniofacial Pain Program at the University of Minnesota. He received his MS degree in 1994.From 1994 to 2001, he was the head Air Force dentist for TMD and on the staff at Lackland AFBs two-year general dentistry residency program. Dr. Wright provided the TMD training for all of the bases AEGD, Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Orthodontics residents and has had over 100 residents rotate through his TMD Clinic. He was the military consultant to the Surgeon General for TMD. In 2003, Dr. Wright completed a two-year dental research fellowship with the Veterans Health Care System where he studied headache patients treated with TMD appliance therapy.Dr. Wright is the UTHSCSAs course director for the TMD Course, course director for the Dental Anatomy and Occlusion Course, and course director for the Occlusion and TMD Course. He is a member of the Academy of Craniofacial Pain and American Academy of Orofacial Pain, Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, and Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. Dr. Wright is the primary author of more than 30 journal articles and is the sole author of the book Manual of Temporomandibular Disorders, which is now in its second edition.
