About me

About Me

Heidi Benavides is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for helping individuals live healthier, longer lives through whole food, plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. She believes that many chronic conditions can be prevented, managed, or even reversed through evidence-based lifestyle changes.
As the founder of the Green Wellness Program: Plants-2-Plate, Heidi leads an innovative approach to care using shared medical appointments and interdisciplinary collaboration. This program is making a measurable impact on the health of South Texas residents by empowering patients to take control of their well-being through nutrition, education and support.

Heidi is a nationally recognized and published expert in plant-based nutrition and is committed to making healthcare more proactive, holistic, and patient-centered.
In addition to her clinical work, Heidi serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health San Antonio. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on higher education, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing, where she specialized in the family nurse practitioner role.

Whether you’re managing a chronic condition or seeking to improve your overall health, Heidi brings compassion, expertise and a food-as-medicine philosophy to support your journey to better health.
