About Me
Jorge H. Moreno Noriega, MD, MSc, is a board-certified neurologist and neurointensivist whose practice bridges neuroendovascular surgery and neurocritical care, providing comprehensive care for patients with complex cerebrovascular disease. He completed a two-year fellowship in neuroendovascular surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, following fellowship training in neurocritical care at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his neurology residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, where he served as chief resident. He earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine and a Master of Science in Molecular Pathology from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He also completed a molecular genetics clinical internship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
His clinical interests include acute ischemic stroke and mechanical thrombectomy, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and dural arteriovenous fistulas, carotid and intracranial vascular disease, cerebral venous disorders, middle meningeal artery embolization, and the endovascular management of other complex neurovascular conditions. He is also interested in pediatric neurointervention, endovascular therapy for retinoblastoma and other neuro-oncologic conditions, percutaneous treatment of vascular anomalies, and emerging cerebrospinal venous therapies. His combined training supports continuity of care from the angiography suite through the neurocritical care unit.
He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery. His academic interests center on advancing minimally invasive treatments for stroke and cerebrovascular disease, improving procedural systems and patient outcomes, and developing collaborative clinical research in neurointervention. His scholarship encompasses cerebrovascular intervention, retinoblastoma treatment guidelines and reporting standards, subarachnoid hemorrhage, neurocritical care, and the molecular genetics of neurodegenerative disease. He has also served as a co-investigator in BOOST-3, a multicenter clinical trial investigating brain oxygen optimization in severe traumatic brain injury.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Moreno enjoys hiking, camping, exploring the outdoors, sports, and traveling internationally.
