About me

About Me

Mr. Justin Brown started his nursing career after he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 2005. He graduated from the University of Texas Health San Antonio in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. After graduation, his desire to continue to care for Veterans of the Armed Forces led him to the Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Over the course of the next seven years he practiced as a Registered Nurse in a variety of settings including the surgical intensive care unit (SICU). It was in the SICU that he developed a passion for caring for patients that had undergone complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries. In 2013 he began to pursue graduate level nursing education as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with the dream of collecting a greater fund of knowledge in order to continue to provide excellent, cutting edge care to his patients. After graduating from the University of Texas Health San Antonio with a Masters of Science in Nursing in 2016, he joined the UT Health San Antonio Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Mr. Brown is pleased to be a member of the amazing team of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Medical staff that make up the UT Health Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. Mr. Brown wishes to continue to grow and expand his skills as a clinician while caring for the needs of patients with complex medical and surgical conditions. His professional interests include technologically advanced healthcare delivery, integrated care delivery models, and expansion of Nurse Practitioner roles in acute care environments.
