Dr. Sovna Shivani Mishra is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Orofacial Pain, who joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Department of Comprehensive Dentistry in November 2024. With a career spanning nearly a decade, Dr. Mishra has cultivated expertise in Oral Medicine, Oral Radiology, and Orofacial Pain management through a combination of academic and clinical roles.
Prior to joining UTHSCSA, Dr. Mishra served as a Teaching Assistant during her residency training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she delivered lectures on Oral Radiology, Orofacial Pain, and Behavioral Pain Assessment.
Dr. Mishra previously held the position of Assistant Professor in Oral Medicine and Radiology at Government Dental College, Raipur, India, where she managed high patient volumes, conducted research on public health issues, and contributed to forensic investigations for medico-legal cases.
Her expertise extends to a wide range of issues, from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders to facial pain, neuropathic pain, and other orofacial conditions that can be challenging to treat. With her addition to the team, the Oral Medicine clinic can offer even more specialized care for those experiencing orofacial pain, providing effective solutions and improving quality of life for many patients. She brings a patient-centered approach, combining the latest research with hands-on experience to develop personalized care plans.
